Artsy Fartsy Water Coloring Girl

A few years ago, my mom got me some watercolors. We started painting together here and there. What a fun experience to paint with my mom with how talented she is.

I loved the way good watercolors felt. It wasn't the easiest to control, but at the same time I loved that there was part of it that I couldn't control. I have made some beautiful messes on paper. It's cool how it's translucent at times. Watercolor paint always looks different when it dries. I love this part the best!

I have always loved the arts, but when I was in High School I focused on music in Band. I started having fun with other things as I can't always play my saxophone in my house because it's "loud" other people say. Laughs.

Painting has become my way to de-stress and my out. I love turning on acoustic music and painting. My mom told me to paint things that I love. It makes it so much more meaningful when you're done if you're passionate about it versus hating the subject or even if it's unfamiliar. Here are a few pictures I have painted.

A big shout out to my husband and parents for being so supportive and encouraging when I show ya'll pictures I have painted!

Just in time for Fall.

I painted this picture from a picture in a calendar.

This picture of the cat also came out of a calendar.

My dad and I decided to have a night of painting an orange. It was so much fun!

His is on the left and mine is on the right.

I used a light box to sketch the details of the faces, but this is a picture of me and my best friend Gwen.

Jeffrey wanted me to paint this for him. I got the design from a logo off a t-shirt.

I painted this from a picture in a magazine.

I painted this from a picture I found online.

This is a birthday card I painted for a friend with tons of glitter added.

Media & Friends

Facebook is kind of like a black hole. People go there to fill the void, but never find what they are looking for. You see folks around scrolling until their thumbs get tired. What did you say? I’m sorry I wasn’t listening; I was busy ignoring you on my phone, only I’m not sorry. I’m guilty as charged because I am on Facebook as well here and there. Here’s the thing though, there’s a time and place for everything. There’s something about the people my age that are oblivious to that. They think spending time together means sitting next to each other, not talking, and surfing social media. This is my biggest pet peeve. Ever since I was a pre-teen, I can recall inviting a friend to spend the night for a sleepover and her hogging the computer to “check her Myspace”. Does that sound familiar? It was always frustrating for me because I always felt ignored. Things haven’t changed a whole lot since then.
There should be something new come out called “Phone Etiquette” and everyone should be taught this; young and old. Phones can keep loved ones connected, but also keep most apart even when they’re in the same room. Lots of people get tired of seeing everyone’s forehead. I’m a big stickler for making memories without having to post every single detail, location, and tag everyone who was with me. Pictures are selective although I tend to send most pictures I want to be seen to my family and friends individually. I believe in privacy and not being broadcasted for everything I do in my day. I’m not wrong for that either. Do the people around you a favor and put the phone down if they came out of their way to do something as little as have a conversation with you or even spend some time with you.

Sincerely,
Old Fashioned

Words of Wisdom by Grace

Be a go getter. You can do anything if you set your mind to it. That includes anything in this world that can be achieved.

Be true to your word. Your word is worth something (if you keep your word).

Be faithful to your family before any one else. Family matters before friends because family are the people who took care of you and always have your back. When a car breaks down, who helps you on the side of the road? Family.

Don't ever make a promise you cannot keep. No one likes disappointment constantly with hopes high. Make a promise that is realistic.

Don't judge someone unless you've walked in their shoes. Show compassion and love to the people around you. You never know what they're going through.

When someone is selfish, they are all about their self. There is no fulfillment in that. However, there is fulfillment in Jesus.

There is no good in gossip. It stays heavy in one's heart as it hurts the people who are talked about. The "Sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you" saying isn't true at all. Words burn deep and are never forgotten.

Use your paycheck wisely because hair appointments and pedicures won't keep the electricity running or food on the table. Make sure you have your needs separated from your wants. Needs to any household comes first.

Who you are around is who you will become so pick your clan wisely. Like minded people work the best.

Find out the things you love to do and then do them. My pastor told Jeffrey and I, when we came to him about marriage, to keep our hobbies and find things that make each of us happy.

Pets are a beautiful creature. However, they are expensive. Cats are expensive by how much they eat and poop a day, how they tear up my favorite ear buds, they claw my furniture, when they get fleas, when they get sick and have to go to the vet, and they keep me up during the night sometimes. Make your choice wisely before getting a pet!

Always keep a relationship with God. Don't worry about religion, but instead a relationship. If one is rehearsing prayers that doesn't hit their heart in any way and its a ritual, then something is wrong. Speak to God as if he is right beside you.

Always try to better yourself in any way you see important. If it's education, a job, making better friendships, yoga, church, health, or even just being nicer to people you will feel so much better.

Uplift people around you. If you can make a goal to make one person smile a day, you are doing better than the world. Be the movement to end depression by positivity.

Love your fellow family and friends like crazy because you never know when the last day shall be. :)

My Wedding Day

I recently got married on November 23rd, 2013. It was the best day of my life. I got to commit myself to this man in front of all the family and friends for life. He is my soul mate and I couldn't see being married to anyone else but him. He is the definition of a good Godly man. I love him with all of my heart, soul, and mind. Everything changed that day; including my last name. He is my best friend and my lover. He makes me a better person and is always teaching me new things. He is always kind and sweet to me. We are a perfect definition of love. I've never met anyone like him. He is like a big teddy bear. The wedding was wonderful! Full of joy, tears, and laughs. The song "A thousand miles by the piano guys instrumental" was on when I walked down the aisle. I was incredibly nervous because all eyes were on me, but I also felt very beautiful in my dress. It was a $500 dress I got on sale for $100 at a Bridal shop. My grandpa made our cake for us. Family helped us out a lot. Jeffrey's grandparents took the pictures. I did my makeup and my mom did my hair. I did the food. I spent about $1,000 on the whole wedding itself leaving us money leftover for our house. A small wedding was perfect for us. God blessed us very much to give us each other.

Organizing Music with Moodify

I suck at organizing and labeling things; this includes music. I just dump everything everywhere and forget what playlists are for what. I’v...
